Prof (Dr.) Somprakash Bandyopadhyay is an internationally acclaimed academician and researcher in Computer and Management Science, having more than 40 years of diverse experience spanning multiple disciplines, within both academia and industry, combining teaching, research, consultancy and technology development in various organizations of international repute.
Currently he is Professor and Director of the School of Management at the Techno India University, Kolkata, India. Previously he was a Professor of Information Systems at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta for 21 years from 2001-2022. At IIM he was the Founder-Director of the multi-disciplinary Social Informatics Research Group: a Centre of Excellence which included digital technologies and development.
Professor Bandopadhyay has also held key roles at the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute, Japan (2000-01), PricewaterhouseCoopers Ltd. (1995-2000), the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (1994-95), the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (1986-94), the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) Germany (1989-90), Jadavpur University, Kolkata (1981-1985) and at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai (1979-81).
